Beretta Godoy hosted a workshop on violence and the impact of the use of alcohol and drugs on the workplace.
The event took place on June 26 at the Marriot Plaza Hotel. Joaquín Carrillo and Madelaine Geuzi Karaian, members of Beretta Godoy’s Labour and Social Security team, and sociologist Verónica Mundt, of Mundt & Asociados, were the speakers.
Violence and addictions at work have specific consequences that affect the processes of work, its environment and the organization´s dynamic. This problem is not new, but the treatment that the Justice has been giving to it, is. This indicates we need to rethink the issue and analyze different strategies for its treatment.
The speakers examined different aspects of the problem of violence and addictions at work: impact, companies’ risks, prevention and responsibilities. From a legal and sociological point of view, they proposed to find a way out of the dynamic “lose-lose”, which is usually the cause of violence and addictions at work: loss of image, credibility, hostile work environment and legal consequences.
